Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 user reviews
With this is mind, and after reading some positive reviews, I decided to tryKaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 when my Norton subscription expired. I'm glad I did. There's a night and day difference between two when it comes to all functions. Updating definitions and scanning is much faster and it works out of my way. Whether it is more effective at catching viruses, I can't say. I tend to not do things that are particularly risky in that area, so I can only assume that it is as effective as Norton since I have not been infected with anything.
When my wife's Norton subscription expired, she also decided to try Kaspersky, and she is even more impressed than I with how much faster her computer functions. It seems that Kaspersky has found two new fans in our household. "
In a nutshell, Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 works!!!! There are umpteen-gazillion competitors out there (and of course I've not tried them all) that claim to do all sorts of magical things, but Kaspersky actually does what it says it will do. I have several "freeware" programs on my computer---most notably Ad-aware and Spybot--- that "find" all sorts of pesky things and claim to delete them, but these critters keep coming back. I even tried that new "Live One" (or whatever it's called) from Windows, but it totally failed to find and purge that horrific trojan that seems to be infecting practically everyone's computer recently---Winsoft.
Have you too been infected with Winsoft? You know, the constant pop-ups "warning" you that your computer is infected with spyware and doing it under the pretense of being a legitimate Windows message? Well, nothing under the sun could get rid of it until Kaspersky. Now, I can go online without the constant barrage of pop-ups from Winsoft or System Doctor or a host of other nasty varmits.
I noticed where one user experienced a total crash of his PC when trying to install Kaspersky. At first, I thought mine did the same thing too. What it turned out to be was my worthless Windows Live One trying to "protect" my computer from Kaspersky. I don't know enough of the "technicals" to explain this, but when installing Kaspersky it does prompt you to uninstall "incompatible" programs. In my case, the seldom used Trend PCillin program had to be removed before running Kaspersky. Ultimately, I uninstalled the Windows Live One program too and all has been well since!
You may or may not like the audible "ping" sound that occurs whenever Kaspersky detects a problem, but the little "pig squeal" it gives when it deletes a potential threat will have you giggling and squealing with delight!
Hands down, this Russian-made protection software is the best I've ever used. I like to imagine that I have an entire brigade of Don Cossacks hacking and slashing away at all of the nasty trojans trying to invade my PC.
