"I own numerous computers and laptops and have tested numerous anti-virus programs along the years. Trend Micro is hands down my favorite. Norton slowed down my computer , McAfee is impossible to uninstall and Kaspersky put some kind of malware on my laptop and I had to reformat it completely. Perhaps not malware but it somehow took up 80% of my hard drive, talk about a resource hog ! I had never had any issues with PC Trend until recently involving Vista and interactive services. I had to disable interactive services as the program kept popping up. It only did this following the recent install of the antivirus program. Other than that, it has worked very well for me over the years and I have been (knock on wood) virus free for the past 3 years since using it. It is super-easy to install and it runs seamlessly in the background. I have it installed on 3 out of 5 computers due to its ease and effectiveness.

UPDATE: I have never had trouble with install before with Trend-Micro but for some reason, it is not a good match for my new Vista laptop, Dell Vostro 2510 :-( Had to go with a free antivirus program for time being. "

    "I installed this product on my HP laptop, which runs Windows Vista. It works fine and does not slow down my computer, a problem I've had with free programs with similar features. Note that it's use is limited to one computer, though. You can update to the pro version if you decide you need more protection. For spyware and virus protetion, you get a good program at a good price. "

    "I installed Trend Micro AntiVirus plus AntiSpyware on a brand new computer with Windows Vista, the installation was simple and the only thing needed was an update. The program integrated straight into Vista and auto configured without me having to make any adjustments.

One of the issues I have is that despite Viruses and Spyware being a real threat, when you buy a new computer you don't get any really powerful programs to stop them. Windows Defender works to a certain level but when you use a good program then you realize it is limited.

I like this software by Trend Micro, it isn't over the top with unnecessary buttons, and the interface is simply and easy to use. It runs seamlessly in the background and you wouldn't even know it was there until it pops up occasionally to let you know if there is a problem. You can set the parameters on how you want the program to run or just let it run as already configured. You have the choice on whether to do a scan right away or let it do it automatically at a certain time.

As far as effectiveness, since 08/03/2009, the program has intercepted 41 threats. Admittedly these were low level and internet cookies but it still reflects that the program is functioning to a good level. This software also protects your computer from any potential threats by protecting your files and not allowing any changes without your permission. I would highly rate this and it is one of the better Anti Virus/Spyware programs I have used.
